George H. Thom III -

George is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he managed to play in a rock band and simultaneously be named to the Dean's List his last eight consecutive terms. After graduation he entered the insurance and financial planning industry, soon becoming a Qualifying Member of the Million Dollar Round Table. He received his CLU and ChFC designations from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, and was elected by his peers to the Board of Directors of the Greater Detroit Association of Life Underwriters.

George's market in the Financial Planning Industry was primarily business owners and executives. George found himself working with several executives of the Masco Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, which is famed for its Delta Faucet. As a result of of this work with the Masco Corporation, he was offered the position of National Sales Manager for one of Masco's Divisions. After a one year courtship, George accepted the position, and over a six year period, his Division*s sales quadrupled. He was the co-developer of a Hydraulic Hose Repair Kit which won the Alex Manoogian Award as Masco*s best new industrial product of the year.

For the last several years George has written custom software for CPA's, Tax Attorneys and Business Owners, and founded Visible Algorithms in 2002.

On the recreational side George flew Cessnas for several years, then found time to deal cards two afternoons a week at Detroit’s Greektown Casino, dealing ten different table games including Black Jack, Pai-Gow poker and the popular Texas Hold-em. He and a co-author are currently finishing writing a Sherlock Holmes mystery. Refusing to totally grow up, George takes devilish delight in being able to solve the Rubik’s cube in less than two minutes.

James Black -

Jim graduated from Michigan State with a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering, with special interest in control systems and instrumentation, after which he joined an industrial controls company serving the automotive industry. His work includes material handling equipment, metal forming and processing machine controls and process instruments, including the actual control systems, diagnostic systems and user interfaces. He has experience with programming languages ranging from a number of real-time hardware-specific languages to Visual Basic, Visual C++, Java, ColdFusion, SQL and Matlab, to name a few.
